HOW THE ROOM WORKS

Inside the Fresh Step working studio

The studio is organised around visible decisions. Research lives next to sketches, real content enters early and every review has a question it is responsible for answering.

01

One working table, one shared picture

Source material, audience evidence, content, constraints and visual experiments are kept in a shared working view. That makes gaps and contradictions easier to discuss than when each discipline works in isolation.

The table can be physical or remote. What matters is that the team sees the same current brief, the same approved direction and the same open questions.

02

Critique is connected to criteria

A review is not a vote on favourite colours. The conversation returns to recognition, hierarchy, audience fit, accessibility, production reality and the decision this piece needs to support.

Specific critique makes the next iteration smaller and stronger. It also prevents personal preference from quietly replacing the project objective.

03

Real content arrives before polish

Long names, ordinary images, difficult messages and small screens reveal weaknesses that placeholder copy hides. Representative content is introduced while the system can still change.

This is where a visual idea becomes a working language rather than a single composition.

04

The studio keeps a decision log

Important choices are recorded with their reason, owner and consequences. The log is deliberately concise enough to be used instead of admired and forgotten.

When a later request challenges a rule, the team can understand whether the rule still protects a real need or has become unnecessary.

05

Access is part of craft

Contrast, reading order, keyboard behaviour, responsive type and understandable labels are reviewed alongside composition. Accessibility is not a final compliance layer added after the creative direction is fixed.

A distinctive system earns its value by remaining perceivable and usable in the contexts where people actually meet it.
